According to the study and analysis conducted by few CS and IT professors of engineering colleges in India, Power Management Bus is a type of completely open standard protocol available as language with suitable commands that allows for communication with power regulators, power converters and various other elements categorized under the entire power management system. With frequent increase in complications of systems and consistently growing requirements to achieve high power efficiency, PMBus is able to provide an exclusive method to activate power systems and thereby, allow them to react to a particular state of system in effective manner. In this way, systems can provide adequate power based on circuitry requirements.

PMBus or Power Management Bus is a type of open standard and digital protocol aimed at efficient power management. Its functions are solely dependent on another system referred as SMBus or System Management Bus. Initially, technical team of Intel Corporation developed this bus protocol to accomplish various types of system management applications required mainly in PCs and servers. Later on, the system undergoes improvement in the form of 12C i.e. Inter IC communication standard used mainly for communication in between different ICs present in a system. PMBus performs its functions by targeting digital management of various power supply systems and delivers large numbers of simplification features present in SMbus, which are mainly not required within applications of power management. Main aim of the device is to assure about effective operation of power supplies and several other types of power management systems. PMBus or the Power Management Bus helps in communication in between a power converter and any other type of device or numbers of devices. It completely defines both physical and transport interfaces and simultaneously, the command language required for accomplishments of systems.
